"Medical Imaging using Near Infrared Light"

In the last decade there has been increased interest in the application of optical radiation for medical imaging. A variety of techniques have been developed including fast methods for functional mapping of the cortex, as well as slower time of flight photon counting methods that give deeper penetration. In this talk I will give a summary of some of these approaches with an emphasis on image reconstruction techniques that incorporate methods from existing inverse problems in imaging. Examples will be given for imaging of the brain of premature babies and for detection of breast cancer.

The Colloquium is supported by generous contributions from the Bloomberg, Information Builders, Inc. and Netlogic, Inc.
