"An Invitation to Quantum Computing"
We shall present some of the basic ideas and trends of quantum
computing. We start with a simple presentation of the concepts
of quantum mechanics needed for quantum computing. We shall mention
"interference", "entanglement", and the all-important
"superposition". We will actually go through the Deutsch Algorithm which
tells if a function is constant or balanced with one evaluation of the
function. We also go through some basics of quantum cryptography and will
conclude with the quantum protocol: BB84.
The Colloquium is supported by generous
contributions from the Bloomberg, Information Builders, Inc. and qbt Systems, Inc.
